No-Waste Bookmark
After a tapestry or rug tufting project is complete, I find myself with leftover bundles of custom blended colours, or ends of cones/balls and surplus warp thread that isn’t enough for a new piece. Over the last few years I’ve been collecting them, and finally I’ve turned them into bookmarks!
The world might be burning, but the humble no-waste bookmark is trying its hardest not to add to the impending climate disaster. Woven from leftover tapestry bundles, ends of cones/balls, and donated secondhand yarn. Combined with surplus warp, either from the end of a cone, not long enough to be wound onto the loom, or the last of the warp left on the loom after cutout. Together they’ve come together to become the no-waste bookmark.
Each bookmark measured approximately 18 × 4 cm (not including fringe), due to the various different fibres included, some are slightly narrower, and those with tufts are quite a bit wider.
Packaged individually in glassine bags with wraparound paper sticker, these bookmarks are perfect for gifting this festive season. Glassine is fully recyclable and compostable, the paper stickers are also recyclable, and bookmarks will be sent in recyclable envelopes.
If you’re wanting to purchase a bookmark with a print (for example), squarespace will charge two separate shipping fees. I will refund the additional shipping fee (the cheaper of the two) as soon as possible.
